Celtic star James Forrest has admitted to the Glasgow Evening Times that he’s buzzing after returning from injury.
He’s revealed that all he was able to think about during regular spells out of the team was returning and doing the business for both club and country and making a difference on all fronts before the end of the season.
“I'm absolutely buzzing to be back. When you are injured the only thing you can think about is getting back fit again,” he said.
“Thankfully, I'm back playing at club level with Celtic and now I'm involved with Scotland again, so I'm delighted to be part of the squad. All that hard work helped get me through it.”
There was a little bit of surprise when Forrest found himself called up the current Scotland squad ahead of Celtic teammate Gary Mackay-Steven, but he’s responded well and is saying the right things which will impress Ronny Deila.
He has a chance to play well and fight hard for his country and a good performance this evening against Northern Ireland will only stand to improve his confidence and give him that bit of extra momentum.
Celtic are chasing a treble and while the Bhoys may have preferred him to rest over the international break, Forrest will be one player who should be a bit match sharper and raring to go in the match against St Mirren.
He needs to continue working hard and challenging himself, showing the same fight and resolve which got him through a difficult period in his career and Celtic’s chances of success will be better as a result.
