Collison has suggested that Allardyce is the perfect manager in the way he deals with his players and addresses the dressing room, which suggests it would be a popular decision with the players if he’s offered a new deal by the higher powers at the Hammers.
“He's an honest person and I think if you work hard and try your hardest but don't always get the results, he's fair on you,” said Collison.
“He's very good and can keep his distance at times and at other times he'll have a laugh and a joke with you.”
As things stand, nothing has changed and his current deal expires at the end of the season.
There has been speculation over a new offer, but the main argument against that from a lot of fans is that Allardyce’s playing style does not conform to the direction that the club should be looking to head in.
However, if the Hammers want a man who can judge players, motivate them, keep them happy and rip into them when the situation warrants it, Big Sam is the man.
All the majority of players ask for is a manager who is honest and fair in the way he treats them and Collison seems to think that Allardyce has the perfect balance at the moment.
Whether he gets the chance to nurture the current squad through the next stage of their development remains to be seen.
