Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic hailed former Tottenham and current Real Madrid star Luka Modric following El Clasico.
Barcelona beat their arch-rivals Real Madrid 2-1 in another spirited edition of El Clasico and Real Madrid have been criticised for their performance - once Luka Modric left the pitch around the 60 minute mark, Los Blancos lost the plot.
Modric has been praised by fans since the match and was the subject of Rakitic's tweet on Monday afternoon, highlighting what a great person and player the former Spurs playmaker is and showing the good relationship between the on-pitch rivals.
"Great person, great teammate, great player...!!! As of today, we fight together...Vamos Croatia!!!" he wrote.
"Gran persona, gran compañero, gran jugador...!!! A partir de hoy peleamos juntos.."
Modric and Rakitic have been national teammates since 2007, when Rakitic joined one year after Modric made his debut against Argentina on 1 March 2006, but had previously played together at the U-21 level, after Rakitic made the switch from the Swiss U-21 side.
The duo will now prepare for their 28 March Euro 2016 qualifying match against Norway, where Modric will meet his new teenage teammate Martin Odegaard, who has become the face of Norweigen football in Europe.
