There may be a few more matches to play before the curtain closes on yet another Premier League campaign, but you can rest assured that clubs across the land are already considering their summer transfer business.
As much as every manager will have a wish-list of potential new additions, they will also have an eye on the players that could be moved on, and in the case of Liverpool, one player stands out more than most.
Mario Balotelli may have only arrived at Anfield last summer for a reported £16million but the Italian international has done little to endear himself to the Liverpool faithful.
In 25 matches for Brendan Rodgers’ side, Balotelli has scored just four goals, with just one coming in 14 Premier League appearances.
When he was brought on in an attempt to change the game against Manchester United last weekend, his most notable contribution was not a goal-scoring attempt but an altercation with Chris Smalling that could have been a lot worse were it not for the quick-thinking of some Liverpool supporters.
Despite Daniel Sturridge’s ability in front of goal, there is no doubt Liverpool need more quality up front, and that is surely an area Rodgers will look to strengthen in the coming months.
But in so doing it would be no surprise if he were to sell a player who is already racking up a considerable list of employers despite the fact that he is still only 24.
