After a very good run on the domestic front to leave them handily placed in the Premier League and in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, surely Arsenal would want to keep on playing rather than break for internationals?
It's been another one of those season's for Arsenal. It was trying start to the season where they couldn't really find consistency, but they have managed to build up a head of steam at the turn of the year to carry significant momentum towards the back end of the campaign.
Despite their Champions League exit, one has too look at their form in the Premier League and think that Arsene Wenger would just want the next game to come around as soon as possible.
They've won nine of their last 10 Premier League games and are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup. They have a striker finding the back of the net regularly in Olivier Giroud, their midfield seems to be functioning pretty well - while as an attacking threat they possess a good degree of potency.
There are still a couple of concerns about their back line, especially given what happened in the Champions League against Monaco - while some of the so-called strugglers in the Premier League have probably given their back line a more uncomfortable 90 minutes than they will have liked - so it's one area that Arsene Wenger may want to look at.
But the run they have been on has allowed them to climb to within a point of second place and they remain firmly on course to qualify for the Champions League yet again, even if they have shown some faults earlier on in the campaign which may have threatened their status in Europe for next season.
You do get the feeling that Arsene Wenger would have liked to have had the opportunity to knock Liverpool out of the race for the top four with a game this weekend, rather than wait a week when circumstances could change a little when things are a little beyond his control, while his next opponents may have had chance to regroup after a damaging defeat.
