Ex-pro: Star Manchester United are scouting is better than Coutinho

Manchester United linked Felipe Anderson has been positively compared to Philippe Coutinho of Liverpool.

Felipe Anderson's magnificent season for Lazio is catching attention from across Europe, although not yet for the Brazilian national team.

The Mail reported Manchester United sent their chief scout to watch him in action this weekend, and their is much to like about his season so far.

The 21-year-old has nine goals and six assists in Serie A in 13 starts and nine substitute appearances this season, with three goals coming in his last two games.

He has though been overlooked for the Brazil squad for this international break, and former Lazio playmaker Stefano Fiore is bemused, arguing he is a better player than Coutinho of Liverpool who did make the cut.

Fiore told Italian website TMW: "The former Inter has long been a regular at Liverpool and perhaps for continuity he is rewarding (rather) than Anderson. The Lazio player, however, is in a state of absolute grace at this time and is better than Coutinho."

"While he has talent available, Dunga can not ignore what Felipe is doing in Italy. It's matter of time."

Felipe Anderson is a different player to Coutinho in that he is more of a winger while the Liverpool ace flourishes centrally.

Coutinho has four goals and four assists this season for Liverpool which is not as impact-ful as the Lazio ace, but his efforts are certainly appreciated by his club, who tied him to a new contract until 2020 earlier this season, with manager Brendan Rodgers telling The Mail he should be a contender for this year's end of season awards.

The positive way in which Fiore speaks of Anderson is encouraging news for Manchester United fans, and offers hope that if they do sign him, he will be more productive than a similarly named player they have just cut ties with.
