Tottenham Hotspur youngster Ismail Azzaoui continues to show why there are high hopes for him to develop into a first team star.

He has flourished for the under-18 side this season, scoring six goals to help the side reach the FA Youth Cup semi-finals.

Last night he was called into the under-21 squad to face Leicester City, and came off the bench for a lively 19 minute cameo.

Azzaoui provided an assist for Kenny McEvoy to score Tottenham's only goal in the 3-1 loss, and it was a personal milestone for the young Belgian for it was the first ever goal he has set up at under-21 level.

It was only his second ever under-21 game for Spurs, his only previous outing for the side coming back in October, just a 12 minute appearance as a substitute.

He has developed since then, growing into his role with the under-18s, and now is showing he is ready to make a step up.

A summer signing from Anderlecht, Azzaoui was an unheralded piece of business for Spurs last summer, and one which will take time to pay off, but it could be worth the wait.

Another notable achievement last night was 17-year-old striker Shayon Harrison who made his first ever start for the under-21s.
