Celtic captain Scott Brown is free to play for Scotland during the international break after worries over an ankle problem.

The Glasgow Evening Times has reported that there has been no deterioration in the ankle problem picked up by Celtic captain Scott Brown in the game against Dundee United over the weekend.

The Bhoys won 3-0 but Brown needed treatment on an ankle issue during the game, with the paper suggesting that he was already carrying a problem into the game.

However, the paper has revealed that Brown is fine to head off with Scotland during the international break before resuming club duties with the Bhoys in two weeks time.

The news is significant for a variety of reasons as Celtic chase a domestic treble before the end of the season.

Brown is the key leader in Celtic’s first team and they are a much better side with him than without him, becoming a much more difficult side to break down when he’s available and playing well.

Hopefully Brown will now make it through the next two weeks without any development of his ankle problem so he’s ready and fit to return with the Bhoys ahead of further important club games.
