Leeds United’s Billy Sharp and Aston Villa-owned Nottingham Forest midfielder Gary Gardner are pleased to see Tottenham Hotspur’s Ryan Mason in the England squad.

Leeds United striker Billy Sharp has taken to social networking site Twitter to congratulate Ryan Mason on getting an England call-up.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has been included in the England squad for upcoming matches against Lithuania and Italy.

Mason has replaced Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana, who has had to pull out due to a groin injury he suffered during Sunday’s Premier League clash against Manchester United.

Sharp, who played with Mason at Doncaster Rovers in the 2010-11, is pleased to see the 23-year-old get recognition for his performances for Spurs this season.

Aston Villa-owned Nottingham Forest midfielder Gary Gardner has also taken to Twitter to congratulate Mason.

The 22-year-old, who has played with Mason at England youth levels, believes that the Spurs star deserves the call-up to the senior side.

Former Tottenham midfielder Micky Hazard has also had his say on Mason’s call-up, claiming that he is “proud” of the star’s achievement.

Mason himself tweeted after getting the good news:
