West Ham United returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday, when they got the better of Sunderland 1-0 at home.
The Hammers headed into the game at the Boleyn Ground on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in North London.
Sam Allardyce’s side had to do it the hard way against the Black Cats, scoring in the final minutes to pick up the three points.
Senegal international striker Diafra Sakho scored what proved to be the only goal of the encounter in the 88th minute.
It was West Ham’s second victory in 12 Premier League matches and has revitalised their chances of a top-10 finish.
The London outfit are currently ninth in the league table with 42 points from 30 matches, 12 points behind fifth-placed Liverpool.
