The France international scored the only goal of the Premier League game at Villa Park in the 87th minute.
The 29-year-old found the target from 12 yards after collecting Jefferson Montero's flicked pass and holding off Ciaran Clark.
Gomis was understandably delighted to have scored the winning goal and posted the following message on Twitter this morning.
I'm Glad to Have taken 3 important points in this end of season. I'm Happy to Have scored And Help my team in this victory.— Bafétimbi Gomis (@BafGomis) March 22, 2015
The goal must have also increased the confidence of Gomis for the rest of the season, as he has not had the desired effect at the Liberty Stadium so far this campaign.
In 26 Premier League appearances, the former Lyon star has found the target only three times, while creating 12 chances and having a shot accuracy of 37%.
Victory over Villa away from home has lifted Swansea up to eighth in the Premier League table with 43 points from 30 matches.
