Sunderland failed to return to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday evening, when they went down 1-0 to West Ham United away from home.
The Black Cats headed into the game at the Boleyn Ground on the back of a 4-0 humiliating defeat to 4-0 Aston Villa at the Stadium of Light.
The game against West Ham in London on Saturday was manager Dick Advocaat first in charge of Sunderland, but the Dutchman failed to lead the team to a win.
Senegal international striker Diafra Sakho’s goal in the 88th minute proved to be the difference between the two sides.
Sunderland now find themselves 17th in the Premier League table with 26 points from 30 matches, just a point above the relegation zone.
Next up for the Black Cats is the Tyne-Wear derby against Newcastle United at the Stadium of Light on April 5.
Newcastle themselves are not in good form at the moment and went down 2-1 to Arsenal at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday.
Sunderland fans are confident of winning against the Magpies, as the following posts on social networking site Twitter show.
