The United boss was recently quoted as saying that Liverpool are currently playing in the system that he used at Old Trafford.
“This time Liverpool are playing at home and Manchester United have a bad record at Anfield,” Van Gaal told The Guardian.
“So it will be difficult, but I like Liverpool’s players and they more or less play my system, which I started here with United.”
Van Gaal made those comments ahead of today’s Premier League clash against Liverpool at Anfield.
Former Sky Sports presenter Keys has now taken a dig at the Dutchman for suggesting that he invented the 3-4-3 formation.
Van Gaal 'Lpool are playing the system I invented at OT'. Don't think so - they're playing the system Glenn Hoddle used with England!— Richard Keys (@richardajkeys) March 22, 2015
Liverpool will head into today’s game as favourites, having not suffered a single defeat in the Premier League in 2015.
However, victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford last weekend will have certainly given a huge boost to the United players, who will be determined to pick up all three points at Anfield today.
United are currently fourth in the Premier League table with 56 points from 29 matches, while Liverpool are two points behind them in fifth.
