West Ham United returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday, when they got the better of Sunderland 1-0 at home.
The Hammers headed into the game at the Boleyn Ground on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in North London.
Sam Allardyce’s side had to do it the hard way against the Black Cats, scoring in the final minutes to pick up the three points.
Senegal international striker Diafra Sakho scored what proved to be the only goal of the encounter in the 88th minute.
It was the 25-year-old’s 10th goal of the 2014-15 Premier League campaign, and helped West Ham secure only their second victory in 12 league matches.
The 2014 summer signing had a good game overall. Sakho took four shots, created three chances, put in four crosses, and made one block and one clearance.
Following the match, West Ham co-chairman David Gold described Sakho as “outstanding” on social networking site Twitter (click here to read more).
