Nottingham Forest’s chances of finishing in the top six of the Championship this season suffered a blow on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds endured their heaviest defeat under manager Dougie Freedman, as they went down 3-1 to Norwich City away from home.
Hosts Norwich took the lead at Carrow Road on the stroke of half time when Wes Hoolahan found Jonny Howson, who fired past Karl Darlow.
Cameron Jerome doubled the Canaries’ lead in the 56th minute, and just three minutes later Hoolahan made it 3-0 to the home team from the penalty spot.
Although Chris Burke pulled one back for Forest on 76 minutes, it failed to inspire the Nottingham-based outfit to a comeback.
Forest now find themselves ninth in the Championship table with 57 points from 39 matches, as many as 10 points behind sixth-placed Ipswich Town.
Freedman’s side are mathematically still with a chance of making the playoffs, but they now have a tough task on their fans.
Following the defeat, Forest fans took to social networking site Twitter to discuss the team’s chances of making the top six.

Never thought I'd say it but Pyscho has probably cost us a play-off place. Disastrous decision to appoint him boss. Dreadful manager. #nffc— Nibbs (@nibbs007) March 21, 2015
Big goal for Ipswich. Promotion & play off race is going to be very interesting & we'll have a big say, even if not in it ourselves #nffc— Thomas Payne (@trickytrees12) March 21, 2015
I think it's time to put the play-off talk to bed, and be content with finishing the season well. Throw in some of the youth now #nffc— Stacey Winter (@WinterStacey) March 21, 2015
Everybody wave goodbye to our play-off hopes :( it was a nice dream while it lasted #nffc— Kieran Towers (@kieranthekiz) March 21, 2015
Big game to lose, a big task of getting back into the game and the playoff picture. Anything is possible in football, but a lot to ask #NFFC— Jamie Griffiths (@Jamiegriffo8) March 21, 2015
