Michael Owen has predicted in his Betvictor.com column that Liverpool will win the Premier League clash against Manchester United on Sunday.
The former England international believes that the Reds will register a victory over their arch-rivals at Anfield as they have the momentum.
“United bounced back in impressive fashion at the weekend beating Spurs 3-0 at Old Trafford however all the momentum is with Liverpool at present and I make them my bet of the weekend,” the former United and Liverpool striker wrote on Betvictor.com.
“Brendan Rodgers’ side are formidable at Anfield, unbeaten in their last 14 games in all competitions on home soil, and fancied to better that record further at the expense of rivals Manchester United on Sunday,” added the 35-year-old.
Could Michael Owen’s prediction come true?
Liverpool will head into the game as favourites, largely because they are at home and have better form.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have not suffered a single defeat in the Premier League in 2015, winning 26 points from a possible 30 during this period.
However, United’s chances should not be written off, as they showed against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend that they can step up.
The way in which Louis van Gaal’s side dismantled Spurs at Old Trafford is something that should worry Liverpool.
The timing of the first goal at Anfield will be key. If Liverpool get it early, then the home fans will make it very tough for United to launch a comeback.
