A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Football matches do not come much bigger than this: Liverpool versus Manchester United at Anfield with a place in the Champions League next season a distinct possibility for whoever comes out victorious.

There will still be plenty more football to be played but a win for United and they will be five points clear of their nearest challengers for a top-four finish, while victory for Liverpool and qualification will be in their own hands.

In early team news, the BBC reports that United can once again call on club-record signing Angel Di Maria following the Argentine’s one-match suspension. However, centre-back Jonny Evans is still suspended.

There is better news regarding two other defenders, with the report suggesting both Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw could return to the match-day squad but not the starting line-up.

In other news, Northern Ireland coach Michael O’Neill has been speaking to Belfast Live about United youngster Paddy McNair.

The teenager is in line for his senior international debut next week and O’Neill appears to have no qualms giving him that chance.

“While Paddy is still young, I don’t think throwing him in an international game would faze him,” O’Neill said. “I think he would be able to deal with that.”

The way he has started life in the United first-team, few would disagree with him.
