The Italian scored his second goal in as many games as a spell out of the side appears to have done him wonders.
Leeds United picked up a hard-fought point against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Saturday afternoon. A second half strike from Mirco Antenucci levelled things up after Sheffield Wednesday loanee Gary Madine had opened the scoring for The Seasiders.
Some players struggled to play their game on what was a woeful pitch. Alex Mowatt, Billy Sharp and Charlie Taylor all struggled.
Others thrived. Sol Bamba, Marco Silvestri and Steve Morison. However it was the Italian striker who seemed to catch the eye of Leeds fans.
The Italian has recently had to work hard for his place in the Leeds first-team. Morison and Sharp have been preferred by Neil Redfearn, after Antenucci found himself in a mini goal drought.
But he is undoubtedly a fantastic striker with the coolest of demeanours in front of goal. His strike yesterday took him to double figures for the season, the first Leeds player to do, and was his second goal in as many games after netting v Fulham in midweek.
Of all of the Massimo Cellino backed signings from Italy in the summer, Antenucci has remained one of the more popular among Leeds fans.
Now, the clamour is for the Italian to get the nod for the next game against Blackburn, as Leeds United fans rave about his ability on Twitter.
Here is some of the reaction from Leeds fans ...
Time to give Antenucci 5 games up front in this system. He can't score less than Morison, he might score more than Sharp. #lufc— Jase (@Jase0909) March 21, 2015
This Season. Ross Mccormack 36 League games 10 Goals. Mirco Antenucci 22 League Games 10 Goals. Just Saying. #lufc— Jase (@Jase0909) March 21, 2015
Antenucci has proved once again why he's a quality player been starved of game time by Morison let that sink in— Armo (@Jordan_Armo) March 21, 2015
Antenucci's goal was nicely taken— boyd (@jordyleeds4) March 21, 2015
We talked on latest podcast the need to have a player who can impact from the bench. Antenucci has become that man. #LUFC— RightintheGaryKellys (@RITGK) March 21, 2015
@DaveLUFCWatkins agree. We were lucky on Wednesday. Players still needed. Need to start with antenucci next game— Paul Hannan (@pistol1603) March 21, 2015
Absolutely criminal if Antenucci doesn't start the next game— ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) (@Woollin97) March 21, 2015
