Jamie Carragher sparks Olivier Giroud v Harry Kane debate on Twitter

Giroud Arsenal

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher comments on Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud and Tottenham Hotspur youngster Harry Kane.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has sparked an interesting debate on social networking site Twitter regarding Olivier Giroud and Harry Kane.

Both Giroud and Kane were in fine form on Saturday, helping Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur respectively to victories in the Premier League.

While France international striker Giroud scored both goals in the Gunners’ 2-1 win at Newcastle United, youngster Kane struck a hat-trick against Leicester City to help Spurs to a 4-3 triumph at White Hart Lane.

Carragher was impressed with the performances of the two strikers and made some interesting comments comparing the duo on Kicca.com and Twitter.

“Harry Kane & Olivier Giroud are in fine form but who would you rather have in your team?” the former Liverpool defender wrote on Kicca.com. “Also how close are they to Costa & Aguero who were the standout strikers in the first half of the season?

“I think both players are a little short of Costa & Ageuro but their performances of late means they're closing that gap.

“I'm a fan of both Giroud & Kane and I'm finding it difficult to split them! I don't normally sit on the fence but I honestly can't decide. I'm sure it's an argument Spurs/Arsenal fans are having between themselves.”

Giroud has struggled with injuries this season, but he has been in brilliant form in recent weeks.

The former Montpellier star has scored 13 goals and created 22 chances in 19 Premier League appearances, while having a pass accuracy of 67% and a shot accuracy of 54%.

Tottenham youngster Kane is enjoying a breakthrough season and has scored 19 goals in 26 league matches, while creating 20 chances and having a pass accuracy of 76% and a shot accuracy of 61%.
