The Red Devils got the better of Liverpool 2-1 away from home in what proved to be a hugely entertaining Premier League game.
United took the lead through Juan Mata in the 14th minute and gained a numerical advantage when Steven Gerrard was sent off in the opening minute of the second half.
Spain international Mata doubled the Manchester outfit’s advantage just before the hour mark, although Daniel Sturridge’s goal in the 69th minute did threaten to make things tough for the visitors.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher was watching the match, and he was impressed with the performance of United.
Man United excellent first 45 mins well deserved win. The day Van Gaal convinced? Record in big games very good. Moment of madness from SG.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) March 22, 2015
