A former footballer has had his say on Arsenal's recent form and their title chances next season.
The Gunners secured another three points courtesy of an Olivier Giroud brace, with Moussa Sissoko’s second-half goal a mere consolation. And Fjortoft’s assessment of Arsene Wenger’s side was good news for those supporters seeking greater success next season and beyond.
Writing on his official Twitter account the Bundesliga expert said, “Take away that game versus Monaco; fair to say that Arsenal have take(n) another step this season.
“Couple good signings this summer: Title contender.”
Arsenal are currently third in the Premier League, just a single point behind reigning champions Manchester City. And while it may be too much to leapfrog both them and league leaders Chelsea in what remains of the campaign, there is every chance they could improve again next season.
Arsenal are on an excellent run of form and have invested well in recent times, seeing the likes of summer signing Alexis Sanchez and January addition Gabriel Paulista impress so far.
Fjortoft may well be right, but the trick is signing the right players, because if manager Arsene Wenger can do that, there is no telling how good his side can become.
