Reported Southampton and Swansea target Gregoire Defrel admits Premier League appeal

The Frenchman has impressed at Cesena this season.

Cesena attacker Gregoire Defrel is certainly looking like a player many a Premier League manager would like to get their hands on.

In February Southampton were linked with his signature by the Daily Mail, suggesting The Saints were leading the chase for the talent.

But they also reported Swansea and Everton as keen. The Swansea story was also reported by the South Wales Evening Post. There was no doubt that Defrel had caught the eye.

This week his agent told Tutto Mercato Web that he rejected a potential January exit but that the Frenchman would be considering his future in the summer.

Now the player himself has commented. TMW report Defrel as making it clear that a move to England certainly appeals.

"I think to do well with Cesena, then in June we will see. I'd like to stay in the Italian league, but also the Premier League has great appeal."

Southampton and Swansea have both had good seasons in the Premier League and will be looking to build upon that next term.

Defrel has scored six goals this season including strikes against Italian giants such as Inter Milan and Lazio, and it certainly sounds like he would be more than happy to switch Italian football for either Southampton or Swansea city and Premier League football.
