Manchester United fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to urge the club to hand David de Gea a new contract.
United have just recently given midfielder Michael Carrick a new deal which will see him remain at Old Trafford until June 2016.
England international Carrick has been on the books of the Red Devils since 2006, when he moved from North London outfit Tottenham Hotspur.
The Manchester outfit made the announcement of the new contract on their official website on Friday, following which the United fans took to Twitter to have their say on the club’s decision.
Many of the fans were pleased, but some of them now want United to sort out the future of goalkeeper De Dea.
The 24-year-old Spain international is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and has a contract with United that runs until June 2016.
According to a recent report in The Mirror, Spanish giants and reigning European champions Real Madrid are interested in De Gea, and it seems that the United fans are keen on the club tying him to a long-term deal.
