How Wolverhampton Wanderers' Twitter-based supporters reacted to the centre-back's showing in their 2-0 win over the Rams.

Wolverhampton Wanderers thrust themselves into the Championship play-off picture on Friday night with a 2-0 home victory over promotion rivals Derby County.

After the visitors had the better of a goalless first-half, it was Wolves who opened the scoring three minutes after the break when Kevin McDonald fed striker Nouha Dicko for his 10th league goal of the season.

Rams goalkeeper Lee Grant’s own goal 20 minutes from the end, following pressure from Wolves centre-back Danny Batth, then sealed the home side’s rise to seventh to put them level on points with sixth-placed Brentford.

Steve McClaren’s men can consider themselves unfortunate not to have earned at least a point from the visit but saw their rivals’ resolute defence extend their winless run to six matches, as Richard Stearman in particular proved a colossus at the back.

The centre-back showed no ill-effects from the hamstring tweak picked up in Tuesday’s win over Sheffield Wednesday, as he recorded nine clearances, three blocked shots, two interceptions and a tackle over the course of the 90 minutes.

He didn’t pick up the man of the match award on the night, as those spoils went to Bakary Sako, but the Twitter reaction would suggest that Wolves fans were still more than pleased with his showing.
