Tottenham Hotspur could have some very impressive players in core positions next season.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is going to have a big challenge this summer to transform the look of his side.
Spurs could sign some very good players if they finish in the top four, but even if they don’t the manager will be looking to make squad additions in different areas.
He needs to have a very strong spine to the team based around important individuals in each area, which could look something like this.
If he stays, Hugo Lloris will be first choice. However, this could depend on whether Tottenham are playing in the Champions League.
If they don’t qualify and a big bid comes in for the Frenchman, he may be sold and then the emphasis will fill onto Michel Vorm to fill the void.
The key centre back
There’s a good chance the key defender for the team will be Jan Vertonghen.
If Younes Kaboul is sold, Spurs will have a challenge to bring in a fresh option but the Belgian has speed, leadership and Premier League experience.
Again, it will be interesting to see if the club can prevent him from leaving if they don’t have Champions League football.
The key midfielder
This is a difficult one to predict because there are so many contenders.
Ryan Mason could be the key midfielder simply for the heart and energy he shows in the middle of the team.
Nabil Bentaleb may be stronger and Christian Eriksen may be more creative, but Mason has excelled and has been consistent through working hard.
He’s also versatile and has leadership qualities which any team needs from a midfielder.
The main man up front
Harry Kane, a very simple choice.
The main challenge facing Kane will be that he’s no longer an unknown quantity. Sides know about him, they’ll work hard to stop him and he needs to reinvent himself.
