Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman asked about his interest in Arsenal’s Chuba Akpom

Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman says that he has no interest in signing Arsenal youngster Chuba Akpom.

Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman has told BBC Radio Nottingham that he is not interested in signing Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom.

Forest are currently looking for a striker to reinforce their attack for the rest of the season, but the Scot insists that he is not looking to bring in the 19-year-old on loan.

“We are interested in players that we feel who have got a little bit more experience at this time of the season, I feel that’s the way to go,” Freedman told BBC Radio Nottingham when asked if he is interested in Akpom. “He is obviously young and has played a few Premiership games.”

While Akpom is a talented young striker who could benefit from playing for a Championship club, Freedman’s argument about not signing him is valid.

The 19-year-old has not got the experience to add to Freedman’s side for the rest of the season, and he is unlikely to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the City Ground.

What Forest need is someone who knows the Championship inside out, and help them in their final and late push for the playoffs.

Forest are currently ninth in the league table with 57 points from 38 matches, eight points behind sixth-placed Brentford.

The Nottingham-based outfit are back in action in the Championship on Saturday, when they take on Norwich City away from home.
