Former Newcastle United striker Micky Quinn has suggested Ross Barkley is enjoying an upturn in confidence.
Barkley was one of the only Everton players to come through the match against Dynamo Kiev last night who can be proud of his performance in the defeat.
Quinn has suggested that he’s noticed a change in the player in a key area, which bodes well for Everton over the rest of the season.
“I’ve been watching Barkley closely – I feel his confidence has started to grow in the last three weeks,” said Quinn.
Barkley took the pressure, the hostility and the challenge on last night, but unfortunately too many players went missing and the Toffees couldn’t get a result.
The England man is an undoubtedly talented player and with only the Premier League left for Everton to concentrate on this season, there is merit in keeping him in the side for the rest of the season.
He’s young, he’s energetic, he’s fresh and he’s got the ability to turn games on his own with a single pass or piece of skill.
Roberto Martinez will hopefully recognise that he’s got a spring in his step at the moment and he can use that to his advantage to try and put Everton’s opponents onto the back foot quickly in all games.
