The left-back is struggling to better Jordi Alba and Juan Bernat at this moment in time.
The international break is fast approaching and that means plenty of nations are beginning to reveal their squads for upcoming fixtures.
Today saw the Spanish coach Vicente Del Bosque reveal his squad for the upcoming fixtures with Ukraine and Holland, with a couple of shocks.
The 25-year-old has been in great form for Sevilla recently, scoring five goals in his last five appearances for the club and helping them to the quarter-finals of the Europa League along the way.
And his call-up has gone down well with a Liverpool player, who unfortunately did not make the cut.
Alberto Moreno is a former team-mate of Vitolo’s at Sevilla and he sent this Tweet earlier today:
Translated, that reads - "Congratulations my boy @VitoloMachin for the call up for @SeFutbol take advantage of these moments they are unique brother…"
Moreno however did not get the call. The attacking full-back who, according to the BBC, cost Liverpool £12 million in the summer, has three caps for his country since making his debut in 2013.
However, while his form has been good recently it has been sporadic for much of the season. The 22-year-old Liverpool star was always going to struggle to usurp Barcelona’s Jordi Alba or Bayern Munich’s Juan Bernat in the Spain squad.
But at least he can be happy that his old pal has made the squad.
