Lineker: Kane would not be my first choice forward to play alongside

Gary Lineker

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker has suggested that Harry Kane would not be his first choice attacking partner.

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker revealed on Twitter as part of a session for BreatheSport that he would not choose to play with current attacking star Harry Kane.

Lineker was given the choice between three good Tottenham strikers in a question put to him by a fan.

He has the choice of pairing himself with former Tottenham forwards Teddy Sheringham and Les Ferdinand or Mauricio Pochettino’s main attacking option Kane.

He overlooked the forward who has just been called up to the England senior ranks and another former great, suggesting that Sheringham is the man he would have chosen to play with.

Sheringham was one of the best in the business when he played at White Hart Lane and there are similarities between him and Kane in terms of their work rate, movement and the intelligence of their play in attack

Kane has been Tottenham’s main man up front this season and it will be interesting to see how he deals with the challenge of representing the senior England side, which is a big step up from the under-21s.
