Everton player ratings against Dynamo Kiev: Barkley can hold his head up

Everton were wll beaten last night as they fell out of the Europa League.

Everton’s interest in Europe for this season has ended after a disappointing 5-2 defeat last night away at Dynamo Kiev.

As has so often been the case this season, the Toffees defence crumbled and the side left themselves with too much to do to get back into the game.

Here are our player ratings for the game last night.

Howard – 6

Had a very busy evening at the office. Did well to ensure the score line wasn’t even worse for the team.

Coleman – 5

When he struggles to get forward and provide width on the right, Everton generally struggle as was the case here.

Jagielka – 5

Fought hard throughout the game but was too easily given problems by the Kiev attack.

Alcaraz – 4

One to forget. Didn’t look assured at any point and needs to move on quickly, reacting in the right way.

Baines – 6

Some good touches going forward but generally looked a little lethargic and off the pace.

Barry – 5

Wandered about the pitch showing no real direction or feel for what would have won the game.

McCarthy – 6

Did a lot of running and snapped at the heels of players, but surprisingly brushed out of the way on occasions.

Atsu – 6

Did well in the first half of the game but looked lost once Kiev worked out how to deal with him.

Barkley – 7

The best player on the pitch for the Toffees. Perhaps he was trying to use the match as justification for his recent England call up.

Naismith – 5

Worked hard and ran his socks off as he always does. However, provided no real precision.

Lukaku – 6

Well suited to European football and added another goal to his collection, often left isolated when Everton were under pressure.
