Eight games, 24 points: Bryson confident Derby can turn things around

Derby County defender Craig Bryson is confident the Rams can finish the season strongly.

Derby County defender Craig Bryson has told the Burton Mail that his team will do everything possible to fight their way back to the top of the table over the rest of the season.

Derby’s recent slip in form has seen them slide down to the play-off positions on the Championship table, chasing a five point gap from the leaders.

However, Bryson is still confident that with eight games left and 24 points available, the side can still accomplish something special.

“We know there are eight games left – and 24 points to play for,” said Bryson.

“You never know what can happen between now and the end of the season. We’ll keep fighting.”

“We feel it's still all to play for. It's out of our own hands now – we need teams to do us some favours.”

Derby are still in a good position ahead of the rest of the season but need a perfect run of form over the rest of the season.

The Rams have more reason than other sides to try and avoid the play-offs because of the heartbreak they suffered in the final last season.

Regardless of whether the Rams finish in the top six or the top two, Steve McClaren needs to try and end a run of five games without a victory.

Derby’s slide down the table having led by two points is the perfect demonstration of what can happen and the side just needs to make sure they are in a good position to pounce if any other team starts to hiccup.
