Arsenal's conquerors handed Champions League tie with Juventus

Stade Louis II Monaco

After beating Arsenal in the Champions League, AS Monaco have been drawn against Juventus at the quarter-final stage.

After knocking Arsenal out of the Champions League on away goals, anything extra would be a bonus for Ligue 1 side AS Monaco. During Friday’s draw, Les Monegasques were drawn out of the bowls against current Serie A champions Juventus.

No matter who Monaco were pitted against, it was always going to be a difficult draw for Leandro Jardim’s side, but the truth is that it could have been much worse for the side from the principality.

Avoiding Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich was the first goal. Perhaps playing against FC Porto would have been easier, but Monaco will be happy to start as underdogs once again.

There are plenty of little storylines that link the two clubs. Thierry Henry and David Trezeguet played for both sides. Patrice Evra starred at Monaco before moving to Manchester United and is now playing for Juventus and Monaco legend Didier Deschamps coach both sides before becoming France’s national coach.

Here is the best of the twitter reaction from Arsenal’s conquerors drawing Juventus in the Champions League, with football followers expecting a close contest between heavyweight outfits from France and Italy.
