Sunderland midfielder Jack Rodwell has offered an insight into what Dick Advocaat has asked of the squad so far on BT Sport.
The Black Cats held an initial meeting with the Dutchman on Wednesday and Rodwell says that he has asked for full commitment from the entire squad.
Sunderland are in a battle against the drop and Advocaat is clearly trying to ensure that none of his players switch off.
"He has come in, he's had a little initial meeting with us," Rodwell explained. "Obviously, he's only been here two days and I'm sure the next couple of days, he will have a lot more to say about opponents and all that.
"But he just expects us to give our 100 per cent best, as we always do, so things like that, which are standard, really."
Advocaat faces the unenviable task of trying to help Sunderland preserve their Premier League status this season.
The 67-year-old has just nine games in which to turn the club's fortunes around and there is little margin for error, as Sunderland can ill-afford any more slip ups.
At the moment the Wearsiders are just one point above the drop-zone and their position is far too precarious to feel comfortable.
Advocaat will take charge of his first Sunderland game this weekend, with the Black Cats set to face West Ham United at the Boleyn Ground on Saturday.
