Stan Collymore explains why winning against Swansea City is key for Aston Villa

Stan Collymore looks ahead to Saturday’s Premier League clash between Aston Villa and Swansea City at Villa Park.

Stan Collymore has explained in the Bleacher Report why Saturday’s clash against Swansea City will be key to Aston Villa’s chances of survival in the Premier League.

Villa head into the encounter at home placed 16th in the Premier League table with 28 points from 29 matches, just three points above the relegation zone.

Under manager Tim Sherwood, the Villans have won their last three competitive matches, and former Villa striker Collymore believes that they need to make it four out of four.

“For Villa, the next key game is Swansea at home,” the 44-year-old wrote in the Bleacher Report.

“If they beat Swansea at home—a genuinely good side, whereas the games they’ve won so far were either derbies or against struggling teams—that will show they have the quality required, and give the fans real belief.

“But they are still in a relegation scrap, and none of the teams will know their fate until the final few weekends.”

Getting the better of Swansea even at home will be far from easy, but the Villa players are high on confidence and will be determined to maintain their winning streak.

Villa Park is once again buzzing and fans are attending games, which means that Sherwood and his players will have the support they need.

If Villa win against the Swans, then it will show that they can step up against teams who are better than them.

Even a draw will be laudable, although many would see that as two points dropped in the battle to avoid relegation.

The key to winning for Villa on Saturday will be to score an early goal. If they do that, then the fans will be behind them and cheering them on to score more.
