Reported Liverpool and West Ham target confirms transfer approaches

Ogenyi Onazi has revealed the wealth of clubs interested in prying him away from Lazio.

Ogenyi Onazi has long been linked with a transfer to Liverpool, and he has now confirmed to TMW that there have been ‘more than 10’ approaches made for his services.

A Nigeria international with 26 caps for his country, Onazi currently plays for Lazio, and has made an impressive 86 first-team appearances for the Serie A club, despite his young age. He starred for his country in the 2014 World Cup, and looks to have a bright future.

The links to Merseyside club Liverpool started prior to the World Cup, with the Mirror reporting on interest from the Reds, and Onazi admitting that he would ‘jump at the chance’ of signing for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Since then, the other big Premier League club to apparently come in for Onazi is West Ham, who, earlier this week, were reported to be preparing an offer for the 22-year-old.

Italian media outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport ran with the reported interest, and it appears as if the Hammers will be ready to move for Onazi as soon as the transfer window opens.

With all this increased interest in him, Onazi was approached by TMW, who asked him whether he had received any official approaches to transfer away from Lazio, and he confirmed that he had.

“I was approached by more than ten clubs,” the midfielder said. “But I am a Lazio player. I'm still young, I want to grow and play in European competitions. In life you have to take one step at a time.”
