Report: Bayern Munich want Manchester City's Patrick Vieira as youth coach

The Arsenal legend is reportedly wanted to coach the Bayern under-23s.

Yesterday was not a great evening for Manchester City. The Premier League champions were completely outclassed by Barcelona at the Nou Camp as they were dumped out of the Champions League.

Now they have received more bad news, as it looks as though German side Bayern Munich are after one of the club’s key men – at least according to Bild.

Not a player, but development reserves manager Patrick Vieira.

The former Arsenal player has held the position at the club since 2011 and has overseen the complete revamp of the club’s facilities.

But despite the impressive array of young talents at City none look like breaking through to the first-team. Several of the top talents have since been moved on and Vieira may feel his work is underappreciated at the club.

Vieira visited Bayern’s training facilities in January as part of a fact finding mission and Bild claim the Bavarian giants were impressed with the Frenchman, and were prepared to offer him the management of the under-23 side.

Vieira had impressed Bayern’s hierarchy already, after his City side thrashed Munich’s youngsters 6-0 in the UEFA Youth League earlier in the season.
