Redfearn: Leeds United need to be horrible

Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn says the club need to continue making life difficult for opposition teams.

Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn wants his side to continue making life horrible for the opposition, he has told BBC Radio Leeds.

The head coach says his experience of playing in the second tier of English football has taught him about what is required to be successful, and earn promotion.

Leeds have left themselves too much to do this season to reach the play-offs, but they are laying the groundwork to succeed next year.

He said: "We've got to go in trying to win every game. The mentality during this winning run has been try and win and if can't don't get beat.  We're difficult to play against, and we make it horrible, and that is the way out of this division.

"I've been promoted out of this division four times, never been relegated out of this division as a player, so I know my way out of this division, and this is what sides that have been successful have done in it to get up."

Redfearn's future at Leeds is yet to be confirmed beyond this season, but after the run of results in 2015 they are on, the club would be mad not to renew his deal.

He now even has a bit of a swagger about him, real confidence in his own abilities as a coach, and one can only wonder what might have been if he had been appointed instead of Darko Milanic last Autumn.

There is also a real case to give Redfearn greater control over transfers, and allow him to buy the type of players he wants in order to help him lead the side to the success he and the club crave.
