Middlesbrough defender George Friend has told the club's official site that the atmosphere at the iPro was the best they have experienced on their travels this season.
Middlesbrough travelled to face Derby County on Tuesday evening and picked up a 1-0 victory in-front of a particularly vocal home crowd.
32,000 people were packed into the Rams' ground, but the noise levels ended up inspiring Boro to raise their game, according to Friend.
“I think it’s the best away atmosphere we’ve had, it was amazing," he said. "It probably pumped their players, but it pumped us up as well.
"It was a fantastic result and a really tough place to come on a Tuesday night with a full house so it felt great to get a win.”
Boro won the match thanks to Patrick Bamford's predatory instincts and by getting the three points they took a massive step towards promotion.
The Championship is particularly competitive this season, but Aitor Karanka's men are now five points clear of Derby and they occupy one of the two automatic promotion spots.
If they continue to perform as they can they are going to be very hard to stop and they will be looking to carry their momentum from their win over Derby into their upcoming matches.
Boro face a huge game against fellow promotion hopefuls Bournemouth this weekend, before taking on Wigan Athletic and Watford in what looks like a tough set of fixtures.
