The Tottenham Hotspur youngster has had a wonderful first full season in professional football at White Hart Lane and Merson has spoken highly of the 21-year-old's ability today.
The Sky Sports pundit feels that Kane has similarities with Sheringham in his game and he thinks that he can be an England regular for the foreseeable future.
“He reminds me of Teddy Sheringham,” Merson said. "He drops off, comes looking for the ball.
"He has an unbelievable future in the game. I think he will be in the team for the next seven years. But that is up to him."
Sheringham was a huge hit at White Hart Lane, scoring 125 times across two spells at Spurs, and he had a glistening career at the top-level, so for Kane to be drawing comparisons already shows how big a talent he is.
Kane has notched 26 times for Spurs this season and he has become his team's most dangerous attacking threat.
He is now widely expected to be named in Roy Hodgson's England squad for their upcoming fixtures and that will cap off a whirlwind few months for Kane.
The striker has won the Premier League's Player of the Month awards for January and February and he appears to be improving by the game.
Kane will now be hoping to continue developing over the rest of the campaign, as he looks to fire Tottenham into a Champions League qualification spot.
