Lionel Messi was one of the key protagonists, as Barcelona secured their passage to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, at the expense of Manchester City.
Only one man could stop the Argentine star on the night and after the game, speaking with Canal+, Messi acknowledged the remarkable number of saves made by Joe Hart.
"He was phenomenal. With everything we did today, we deserved some more goals, we had lots of clear chances, various one-on-one's, but their 'keeper had an outstanding game. All I can do is offer him my congratulations."
Indeed, other than the deftly placed shot from Croatian midfielder, Ivan Rakitic, placed beyond the reach of Joe Hart in the first-half, Joe Hart was indeed phenomenal throughout the whole game against Barcelona, denying Messi on numerous occasions, Luis Suárez, Neymar, Jordi Alba... the list goes on, helping Manchester City bow out of the Champions League with pride, rather than suffer what could have been a humiliating and heavy defeat.
Asked about his own performances right now, following another recital at the Camp Nou, Messi simply suggested, "I'm just enjoying the form I'm in and nothing more, just trying to enjoy everything. I'm happy with the way we're playing and how results are going for us."
Barcelona and Messi can now look forward to the quarter-finals of the Champions League as one of the favourites, but will have to overcome another difficult challenge, if they're to reach the final. Tensions will be high come the draw, with possibilities of facing former boss Pep Guardiola and Bayern Munich, along with the two sides from the Spanish capital, Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, opponents the Catalan giants will perhaps be hoping to avoid.
