Celtic fans react on Twitter to Forrest performance against Dundee United

Celtic were superb as they strolled their way to a 4-0 win the Scottish Cup replay last night.

Celtic took an emphatic step closer towards a historic treble with an emphatic performance against Dundee United in the Scottish Cup replay.

The toil of having faced the Bhoys two times already seemed to take its toll on the Tangerines, with Ronny Deila’s side cruising to a 4-0 win, which put them through to the next stage of the competition.

One player in particular who impressed, along with several of his teammates, was James Forrest.

There was some disbelief earlier this week when Scotland manager Gordon Strachan named Forrest in his latest international squad, but not his teammates Leigh Griffiths, Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong.

However, he showed last night why he justifies the call-up and why he is such a good impact player for the club.

His skill in terms of possession and the way he protects the ball is superb and he made life very difficult for Dundee United throughout the game. He worked hard and showed a lot of passion to give his boss something to mull over.

The focus now falls back on the Scottish Premiership with a game this weekend against, you guessed it, Dundee United.

Deila will want his team to keep the edge over their Scottish rivals and to also head into the upcoming international break with plenty of confidence and momentum.

The break will allow him the opportunity to take a step back to look at things, assessing his squad and then addressing any areas he thinks have developed flaws over the last few games.

It’s also a good chance for the players to rest and recover after the strains of having played so many intense matches close together, which could maybe have started to cause small signs of fatigue in some players, which Deila would naturally want to avoid.

Here’s what Celtic fans on Twitter had to say about Forrest’s performance.
