Benteke: What Sherwood has given us that Lambert couldn't

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke feels the team have more confidence than was the case under Paul Lambert.

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has been quoted by the Daily Star suggesting the biggest change Tim Sherwood has made since he came in as manager is transforming the confidence of the team.

Villa have started to create momentum with a winning run looking back to last weekend’s impressive win against Sunderland.

The side have a spring in their step and the forward has explained that’s down to the manager thriving after a difficult start with the side.

“It's great the confidence is there now. It's higher than before and we have to take it into the next game,” he said.

“The situation the manager came into was hard and he needed time. But now we are doing his stuff and we have to keep it going.”

Sherwood has been open over giving his players extra responsibility and urging them to make the most of the natural skill set they have.

Pace in wider areas is complimented by Benteke’s impressive presence up front and the side need to pull together to get their next 12 points as quickly as they can.

Next up for Sherwood’s side is a match against Swansea, who themselves won’t be easy to play against this weekend.

The Swans are fresh off of a defeat to Liverpool but Villa have the home advantage and need to make it count ahead of more difficult games.

Another good performance and Villa Park will be rocking, which Sherwood will want the side to use to their advantage to improve that confidence even further.
