Andy Goram: Scotland should pick 'absolutely terrific' Craig Gordon

The former Rangers goalkeeper has heaped praise on the Celtic star.

Former Scotland and Rangers goalkeeper Andy Goram has been impressed by Celtic's 'absolutely terrific' Craig Gordon this season, according to BBC Sport.

And, based on form, Goram believes Gordon is the man Gordon Strachan should pick for Scotland ahead of David Marshall and Allan McGregor.

The 32-year-old had spent a lengthy period out of football before being handed a return by Scottish champions Celtic. But how Gordon has repaid them, producing stunning form both domestically and in the Europa League.

And former Rangers shot stopper Goram is full of admiration for the experienced 'keeper for the way in which he has returned from injury to perform so well for Celtic.

"Craig Gordon, out of the three of them, is the one to pick if you are going to pick from present form. I think he's been absolutely terrific." he told BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound.

"To come back after two years off with a bad injury when it looked like he was going to retire to perform at the level he is performing at right now is incredible.

"I take my hat off to him. I have all the respect in the world for him. The level of performance he has put in with Celtic is absolutely terrific."

Goram, who spent seven years at Rangers and also won a number of caps for the Scottish national side, was full of praise for the current generation of Scotland goalkeepers as a whole.

Clearly, though, he has an affinity for Gordon - like many Celtic fans right now.

Should Strachan eventually make the 32-year-old his first-choice goalkeeper, he may have a treble-winner as his no.1. For now, at least, we know he'll have a Scottish League Cup winner in his side...
