In recent weeks, Liverpool have been repeatedly linked with a summer move - by talkSPORT - for Lazio’s Brazilian winger Felipe Anderson. News from France radio station RMC suggested that French champions Paris Saint-Germain have also started to show an interest.
It is nothing new to see PSG tracking talent in Serie A. In the last few years they have signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva, Marco Verratti and Thiago Motta from Italy. In fact, eight of the players that started for the French side when they drew 2-2 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge were signed from Serie A.
The one that is linking Anderson with a move to Paris is young defender Marquinhos. The Brazilian was bought from Lazio’s rivals AS Roma and it is reported that he is the link that is trying to convince Felipe Anderson to make the jump across to Ligue 1.
Brendan Rodgers was apparently keen on adding Anderson beside Philippe Coutinho, joining his compatriot at Anfield next season.
However, it seems that both Liverpool and PSG will be thwarted in their attempt to sign the Brazilian this summer. After scoring eight goals for Lazio this season, helping them to push up the table and challenge Roma for second place, it looks like he will sign a new deal with the Rome-based club this week.
Brazilian website SambaFoot claim that the new contract has already been signed, but there has been no confirmation from the player or his club.
On Monday night, it was Felipe Anderson that scored twice as Lazio beat Torino 2-0, moving to within one-point of Roma. With no European football to worry about, Lazio are in a great run of form and with their Brazilian star in top form – scoring with both his left and right foot on Monday – they are quickly becoming favourites to land that second automatic Champions League spot behind Juventus.
Lazio face Verona on Sunday evening, and with Roma tasked with a tough away trip to Cesena, another star performance from their talented 21-year-old and they could end a wonderful week ahead of their rivals from the Eternal City.
