Neil Redfearn believes Lewis Cook can emulate Scott Parker.

Leeds United head coach Neil Redfearn has hailed teenager Lewis Cook, comparing him to former England international Scott Parker, in an interview with BBC Radio Leeds.

Parker was in the England side at Euro 2012, after a season for West Ham in which he was voted the Premier League Player of the Season.

Now playing for Fulham, he was on the losing side as Cook's Leeds piled further trouble on the west London side with a 3-0 win at Craven Cottage.

Redfearn said he saw real similarities during the two players, having seen Parker first hand also in his breakthrough years at the Addicks.

He commented: "I look at Lewis Cook now, I was at Charlton when Scott Parker was coming onto the scene, and Lewis Cook reminds me of Scott Parker at that age.

"He's got that energy and that aggression, tenacity, change of pace, can affect games. It was really interesting to see Scott at the back end of his career and Lewis at the beginning of his."

Cook's future is especially bright. He is just 17, yet has been a near ever present in the Championship, a gruelling division for even the most experienced footballers, as Parker is finding out.

At Craven Cottage last night Parker still managed to show his determination and ability, but his side just could not back up his efforts with goals.

Cook's display was the perfect way to continue an exciting week for him, which began with his call-up into the England under-19 squad.
