Former Arsenal player Ray Parlour has explained why he feels Derby County need to be careful in the Championship play-off places.

Former Arsenal player Ray Parlour told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show for talkSPORT that he feels Derby County need to be careful in the Championship.

The Rams suffered another defeat last night at the hands of Middlesbrough, which leaves them lingering in the play-off places and Parlour has urged Rams boss Steve McClaren to try and turn things around at the club quickly.

“I look at Derby and they need to be careful – they’re under pressure in those play-off places - Brentford and Ipswich aren’t too far behind – Ipswich particularly have been impressive,” said Parlour.

Derby need their experienced players and their vastly experienced manager to now step up and attempt to try and turn things around over the next few days.

Derby have negative recent experience of the play-offs and while they are still remotely in touch with the top two, they have to do everything they can to get back into those automatic promotion places.

The sides beneath them in the table are building momentum and finding ways to get back into contention for a top six spot, while the Rams are heading in the other direction.

There’s plenty of talent, creativity and resolve in this Derby County side but they need to do something to transform the belief and get some positive feeling back around the club.
