Rangers fans react on Twitter to Tom Walsh's performance against Alloa

How Rangers' Twitter-based supporters reacted to the teenage midfielder's showing in the 2-2 Scottish Championship draw.

Rangers were held to a 2-2 draw by a resolute Alloa Athletic side at Ibrox on Tuesday night, leaving the recently-appointed Stuart McCall still searching for his first win in charge.

After a goalless first-half, Alloa took the lead through Ben Gordon in the 53rd-mintue, before Rangers hit back with two Nicky Clark strikes in quick succession to put the home side in position to close the gap between them and second-place Hibernian.

Familiar problems haunted McCall’s men, though, as they allowed Liam Buchanan to equalise eight minutes from the end to stumble to a fifth successive Scottish Championship draw.

The new boss showed his willingness to switch things up on the night, however, making five changes to the line-up from the 1-1 stalemate with Livingston and starting teenagers Andy Murdoch and Tom Walsh.

The latter’s performance in particular was cause for optimism, as he built on his promising start on the weekend with another bright outing, full of skill and endeavour, which saw him combine excellently with Lee Wallace on the left.

After making his senior debut in December 2012, the 18-year-old midfielder has had to wait some time before getting his next taste of first-team football with Rangers but, judging from the Twitter reaction to his latest display, fans are keen for him to be handed plenty more opportunities moving forward.
