Leeds United player Lewis Cook's progress recognised with award nomination

Lewis Cook has been recognised following his brilliant season for Leeds United.

Leeds United youngster Lewis Cook has been shortlisted for the LFE Apprentice of the Year award for the Championship at this season’s Football League Awards.

The news was announced on their official Twitter account on Wednesday, with the 18-year-old up against Millwall’s Fred Onyedinma and Charlton Athletic’s Joe Gomez.

Cook has been nothing short of sensational for Leeds this season, playing a vital role in the recent resurgence under manager Neil Redfearn and always one of the first names on the team-sheet when fit and available.

The teenager only made his senior Leeds debut this season but he has gone on to appear 36 times for the club, looking every inch a star in the making.

Leeds have given a number of young players a chance this season and have benefitted as a result, with Cook joined by the likes of Alex Mowatt and Charlie Taylor in impressing on a consistent basis.

Whether or not Cook wins the prestigious award on April 19, he looks set for a glorious career at Elland Road.
