Kris Commons wants Rangers back in the Scottish Premiership

Celtic V Rangers Reserves

The Celtic midfielder admits he 'loves' playing against Rangers - whether supporters like it or not.

Celtic midfielder Kris Commons has made his stance on Rangers very clear - and he wants the Gers back in the Scottish Premiership as soon as possible, according to the Express.

The 31-year-old was asked about his thoughts on the Scottish Championship side, who once again dropped points on Tuesday night when facing Alloa Athletic.

And, whether supporters feel it's right or not, the Celtic man says he 'loves' playing against Rangers.

Indeed, Commons wants Rangers promoted back to the Scottish premiership as quickly as possible, as the midfielder knows Celtic-Rangers clashes promote the biggest crowds and global television audiences - and are quite simply the best games.

“I want them back up as soon as possible because the games with Rangers are the best games," Commons told reporters.

“They draw the best crowds, a large TV audience from people all around the world. It makes people want to get out of bed in the middle of the night in Australia.

“My mates down south don’t know much about Scottish football but they all want to see that game. I love playing in them. There are a lot of fans who are on the fence whether it’s right or wrong but I love them.”

Celtic last faced Rangers in February during the Scottish League Cup semi-final. The Bhoys were 2-0 victors at Hampden Park and went on to lift the trophy after beating Dundee United in the final last Sunday.

Next up for Ronny Deila's side, though, are United once again on Wednesday night, as Celtic face Jackie McNamara's men in a replay of the Scottish Cup quarter-final. They will also play Dundee United yet again in the league this weekend...
