Danny Welbeck gave a good account of himself in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over AS Monaco away from home in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Respected Bundesliga pundit Jan Aage Fjortoft was impressed with the performance of Danny Welbeck for Arsenal against AS Monaco on Tuesday.

England international striker Welbeck started the Champions League last-16 second-let tie at Stade Louis II and played for 72 minutes, when he was replaced by Theo Walcott.

Former Middlesbrough and Sheffield United centre-forward Fjortoft, who is now a well-known Bundesliga expert, liked what he saw of the 24-year-old, taking to social networking site Twitter to make the following comment in the 50th minute.

During the 72 minutes he was on the pitch, Welbeck had two shots, a pass accuracy of 89%, created one chance, put in two crosses, attempted four dribbles and made one block.

The former Manchester United striker worked hard as always and was quite mobile, and perhaps he was unlucky not to have scored.

Welbeck will be back in action on Saturday, when Arsenal face Newcastle United at St. James’ Park in the Premier League.
